Evan Schechtman is the featured international speaker for the very first TV Production Seminar held in Sydney 22 July 2009 (Along side SMPTE). Based in New York, (the city considered by many to be advertising's "Spiritual Home"), Evan has been a digital innovator throughout the past 10 years. Read on for Evan's bio that has just come in.
In 1998 Evan founded Outpost Digital, a next generation media technology company, where he pioneered many new workflows for television and the web that have become industry standards today. Growing up on computers before their curve of popularity helped him understand how to use traditional tools in non-traditional ways, and to predict the evolution of new technology. This approach gained the attention of Apple Computer who, to this day, continues to enlist Evan as a consultant on the integration and use of their own platforms. An early adopter of Final Cut Pro and digital video has earned Evan the reputation as a visionary and leader in this field. Evan has been a beta-tester of software and hardware from Apple, Sony, JVC and others since 1997, frequently penning training curricula and other materials that dictate the use of these emerging technologies.
In 2001, Outpost was acquired by @radical.media. Today he is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of @radical.media where he leads several International teams in developing systems used by radical and its clients on cutting edge initiatives. As a technical lead on many challenging and groundbreaking projects such as “Seinfeld and Superman for Amex, “Table of Free Voices for Dropping Knowledge,” “Full Frontal for Steven Soderberg,” and many others, Evan has helped apply and demystify new technologies in each endeavor. Parlaying radical’s success in broadcast to the new horizon of broadband, he has also completed many media-centric web projects for Tommy Hilfiger, VW, and Grey Goose, amongst others.
Evan has hosted a weekly technology column for “Zoom-In Online,” a leading media industry outlet, and continues to speak on panels and events for Apple, Sony, Pinnacle, JVC , and Canon. It is his passion for technology that will always keep the work he informs or executes on the cutting edge.
